STORY STARTER
Your character is heading to a fancy destination wedding, and their luggage gets lost along the way.
Write a humorous story about how they solve the problem. Keep this a light, engaging, amusing story about your character's plight.
Your roommate talks loudly in their sleep, and one night they say something that you feel you have to warn them about...

Start your story with the words, “I was gone for five minutes! What happened here?”.
Your character intentionally leads someone on a wild goose chase. Write a story about the experience.
Why might this character want to delay or fool someone?
You are onstage making a very important speech when you suddenly reveal something you shouldn't have done.
Write from the moment the reveal happens. Who is your character, and what is the audience's response?
You are sent someone else's grocery order. The items in the basket are both mysterious and surprising.
Create a sense of suspense and drama as your character unpacks, without revealing too much information too soon.
Write a dialogue between yourself and a character you once created.
Since you are the writer, think of what this character would want to ask or tell you about.
POEM STARTER
Write a poem that sounds like it was composed whilst the poet was multi-tasking.
What devices could you use to show interupted thoughts, or movement between spaces or tasks?
WRITING OBSTACLE
Write an advert for a product from a fictional world.
Try to use this product to build the fantasy world in a broader context.
Write a poem about a minor inconvenience.
This may help you articulate nuanced emotions that are not outright exaggerated and over the top.
Describe the last time your character tried something new.
You could create a character for this scene, or develop a protagonist you have created elsewhere.
“Promise me you won’t laugh at me.”
Continue the story from this line of dialogue.
