The Remnant

Leo and Sagittarius joined the group shortly after Capricorn. "Seems like the party is over in Anwyn," said Sagittarius. "This just isn't fun."

"Seems like those four can run things on their own," grumbled Leo. "We're with you guys."

"We need to get out of Anwyn and Golgonozza as quickly as possible and strategize," Scorpio said, folding her arms.

Juan spoke up. "If we're fleeing, I need my people with me. Bucephalus, Atla, Orlando, and Xicarus. They can all be transported in my pocket dimension."

"Who's Xicarus?" Virgo asked.

"Kid who tried to kill Gemini. Gemini's adopted him," laughed Scorpio.

"I say the tower falls," said Capricorn. "Destroy the revolving castle and we cripple their base of operations and their ability to move between dimensions."

"How long have you been waiting for this?" Scorpio asked incredulously.

Capricorn replied without smiling: "since before I joined."

Juan shuddered at Capricorn's schadenfreude. Then he remembered something. "What do you guys know about the Frostheart? Aries tried to get me to take one earlier this week, and said he had one. What is it, really? Could it be used as a weapon?"

Virgo said carefully: "Frostheart is a parasite; it works like Enthusiasm, blunting empathy and anxiety. It amplifies your ambition and socialability. If you had taken it while carrying the Hellfire, it would have killed you, and the parasite would have delivered the Hellfire to Aries." She grimaced and opened her hands. "Aries practices a form of magic that allows him to control the Frostheart parasites."

Inhaling sharply, Juan said, "he would have killed me already."

Scorpio put her hand on his shoulder. "You are a prime target for them. If they've failed to trick you into handing it over, a direct attack might be next. They'd want to behead you and take it."

"Like I did to Belphegor," Juan recalled.

"Exactly." Scorpio answered.

Holding up her hands to the crowd, Libra said, "we have to get to safety. We're targets out here."

Juan nodded. "Let's get to Bucephalus' house and strategize. Scorpio, will you retrieve Xicarus and meet us there? He can fly you there once you meet him."

Scorpio nodded, and began running in the direction of Golgonozza. Juan reached out to Xicarus telepathically, explained the situation, and told him where to meet Scorpio.

The company quickly made their way to Bucephalus' house. The Pillars joined them en route, loyal to Libra over Aquarius. Boaz informed them that members of the Legion arriving to defend Aquarius' Quadraverate.

They rang Bucephalus' doorbell and he welcomed them in. Juan explained the situation, ans Bucephalus and Atla readily agreed to join their cause.

Juan said apologetically, "it's awful this is happening at such a crucial time for your work; I'm sure you were close to fixing the imbalance at the planet's core."

Bucephalus grinned, and called out, "Orlando, would you join us please?" Turning to Juan, the Giant said, "your father is working in the garden laboratory. I'll let him give you the news himself - he's been indispensable, and become a good friend to me."

Soon; Juan's father joined them in the entry hall. "We've done it, son!" Orlando exclaimed when he saw them. "The mirrors are in place, and the resonance has been established all the way to the core. The fluid karma has been effectively reconstituted with solar energy, and this planet will be safe for millions of years!"
