Human Mosaics
We are mosaics of every person we have ever known. Our faces are combinations of people who have loved each other longer than we've been alive. This pattern of life will repeat; over and over and over. People we used to know say or do something because, once, they saw us say or do the same. Every person we have ever known has stayed with us in some way, even the people we wish to forget. We are creatures of sentimentality without meaning to be. We capture these traits, sayings, and characteristics of those we've come to know and add them to the collection of ourselves. We are who we are because of the people we knew in the past. Oftentimes, it's accidental. We are creatures of habit, repeating ourselves again and again. We live, love, and hurt. We swear to ourselves we'll never love again, but we always do. Once time has passed, we forget the hurt, but we carry the evidence in our beings. We may forget the people we once knew, all of us will be forgotten someday, but our subconscious will not. We will tie our shoes, clap our hands, brush our hair, say our prays the way we saw someone once do. None of us have ever been _just_ ourselves. We have always carried pieces of everyone we've ever loved within us.
