Silence
Nothing.
Those had been my last words to her. Nothing. My last words had Ben empty and quiet. Too afraid to speak, I had allowed the ghost of silence to haunt our relationship. Possess my ability to say even a single word. And now, she was gone. They had taken her.
Their macilent figures had surfaced from the shadows and their skeletal fingers had pointed directly at her. And just as though one were to rub out the marks of a pencil, they had simply snubbed out her entire existence.
Gone. It had been quick. For her, at least.
Here however, the silence was eternal. A constant reminder of her lacking presence. And yet, I couldn’t bring myself to break it. Not even a small crack. She had fallen a victim to them and I had become a victim of the quiet.
And now, there was nothing else to do but to let the silence to continue.
