POEM STARTER
After The Storm
Using any form of poetry, write about an emotion as if it were a storm.
After The Storm
I breathe a sigh
of grief and relief.
Newfound clarity
once the mist has lifted.
This was a disaster like no other
Thunderous screams filled the days
Tears fallen, enough to cause a flood
A whirlwind of emotions that devastated all in its path.
My life uprooted
In the discord of it all
The ones I deemed my home
No more stand as they once did.
There were times we thought the storm was gone
And foolishly returned to our lives
And instead of preparing for the next
We prematurely celebrated.
But now the storm has passed
I have found shelter, not comfort
I can survive, not live
And mourn all that is lost.
