Village Mayhem

Five old women meet at the local cafe to discuss what they were going to do about the quiet and boring town. They were getting tired of the same routine everyday, so they decided to cause some mischief to make their days more interesting. They decided on causing some unnecessary drama. They started with tapping on people’s shoulders and acting like nothing happened.

When that got boring they moved onto stealing mail and moving it to neighbors mailboxes. That caused alot of drama, people were accusing others of stealing mail and accusing the mail delivery guy, who, of course, had no explanation as to how the mail got into the other mailbox.

When that got boring, they started spreading nasty rumors, claiming they heard them from someone else. They would say anything from supposed bad habits, to faithful husbands cheating on their wives. Some rumors were harmless, such as someone having the measles as a child. But some were so horrible they would split happy families. Still, after all this, the women were not satisfied. They continued on with the jokes.

The “jokes” began getting to be more that one of the women could handle. Swapping mail was one thing, but the women got to the point that they were setting sheds of food on fire for a joke. So the one woman begged them to stop before someone got hurt, but they refused. So, as a last resort, the woman went to the police and told them everything that happened. About the mail, the rumors, and the other so called “harmless pranks” the women were doing.

The police asked the townsfolk what they thought they should do. The townsfolk wanted to pull a prank on the old women so they all gathered in the Townhall and planned what they could do. They decided to act like they had never seen the old women before. So the townsfolk went about their normal, boring day, and every time they would see the women, they would greet them as if they were guests to the small town.

The women, very confused, asked why everyone pretended not to know them. One little girl, couldn’t keep it in anymore and burst out laughing. The women, figuring out the prank, were very angry that they had been tricked. The townsfolk gathered around and explained that the trick was simply to show them that it’s not fun to be tricked. After the women settled down and explained why they did the pranks, the townsfolk agreed to try to make life more fun by holding spontaneous festivals and markets.
