Kiss My Head Goodbye
“Goodbye, kitty!” Little Sam would wave, eyes bright and full of light.
Little Sam being excited for a playdate with her cousins, always wishing to be out and about. Her little pigtails flopping about as she ran out the door, leaving her calico cat sitting on the end of her bed.
Kitty was a plump creature. Large in width that expanded like a loaf of bread, purring aloud and waiting for little Sam’s return. She knew at the end of the day that her Sam would come and cuddle her to sleep…
“Goodbye, kitty!” The same sentence would be said, every single day would little kitty dread.
But at the end of the day, she knew her little Sam would come back to bed.
As the years flew by and little Sam was little no more, little Kitty became sick and became weak with her age. Living a long life, she was scared and afraid when her old age caught up with her days.
Not so little Sam… Kitty has seen her cry, but not like this and she wasn’t sure why.
“…Goodbye kitty…” Sam would whisper in a choked sob, kissing her head, holding her sweet kitty until she passed on…
(In loving memory of my childhood cat, Tigger 2020).
