STORY STARTER

Write a poem or short story from the perspective of royalty, which focuses on a specific topic of your choice.

It could be real royalty or a fantasy world, but try to imagine how they would feel differently about your chosen theme due to their position.

Story Of A Death That A Bit Bored Was

One has a cow,

One has a crown.

You may tell them apart,

Do you know why?

One has a big loan,

Which he can’t afford,

The other a big throne,

They don’t wan’t to be the lord, though.

Why not? you may ask.

They’re hiding under a death mask.

But death is also bored sometimes,

So he likes to save innocent lives.

You get bored of doing the bad guy,

You need to make a new lie, to save the crowd.

In this case, as it seems,

the crowd not bigger than three might be, maybe even a family.

So death is looking very lightly.

This story may end brightly.

So death pays the loan,

Gets the folk another cow,

But this is, as you might know,

Not the end of the show.

Death still has a work to do,

“A gravestone is waiting for you”

He tells the man who owned a cow or two.

The man has no questions,

So death makes a suggestion.

Another cow for the sake of your family,

But you’ll be taken out of humanity.

The man really nice was,

Only the best for his family he wants.

So he takes death’s offer,

And gets to his grave a bit sooner.

His family’s sad but a lot looner,

Even though their lives are cooler.

So this the story was,

Of a death that a bit bored was.

(English is not my first language and this is my first ever time trying a poem so…)
