POEM STARTER
Write a poem about geese flying south for the winter.
Could their migration be a metaphor for something?
Flying V
The Flying V is so sweet to see
The geese flying south for the winter.
It’s their honking and flocking
That remind us get ready for winter.
Yes they foresee the weather to be
Their migration signals the cold
It will be wintery as soon as can be
This is not the time to be bold.
So bundle up tight on each winter night
Gather covers up to your head
During the long night when there’s no light
You may as well stay in your bed.
Or if you decide that you should just ride
South with the traveling birds
You can winter there without any care
You can be one of those snowbirds.
So if that is you migrating south too
Traveling with all those snowbirds
Then the Flying V is so sweet to see
But your flocks to me look like herds.
