Every day. Every damn day. You slather gunk on your face. Crevasses and valleys created and defined.
“You look like a monster” are the words you’re trying to avoid. Or at least you that’s what you though you feared.
So day in and day out you cover your real being with layers of junk.
Until one day you decide.
Not today. Not today. You walk out in the sunlight fresh faced and free.
Until you realize in the blazing sun there is a reason for the facade.
U look up to the sun as it melts away your bare face.
Layer upon layers wasn’t a fad. It wasn’t a fear. It was real.
No wonder no one joined you in your irrational fear. No wonder they instilled this fear in every child.
They didn’t want their own faces melted
off. Like yours is now.
