As Lucas struggle to not drop Alicia down, they finally cross the Portal. A stream of black fluid, bursting from the ground, narrowly miss the tip of Alicia’s tail by a hair’s width.

The two look back in horror, when the city was sunken into the pool that is spiraling inward. The centre, the building and everything collapse, yet one remained. There, on top of the tower, they see a glowing dot, flickering behind waves, like a firefly in the night.

Alicia cries out, but her scream was squeezed by the howl of the million souls being evaporated. She could see the faces of her sister, and the word on her mouth.

“I’ll see you again.”

The portal closes. Lucas’s trembling legs finally give out, and he drop like a wet rock.
