Write a story or poem titled "Freedom".

Freedom

To many it’s a lack of restraint. Having the ability to choose things for themselves. The ability to make choices without restriction. With a lack of restriction many think it comes with a lack of consequence but that would push back against the cause and effect of natural selection. The choices we make no matter how free to make them we are will always have a reaction to them regardless. Within freedom there is also a level of anarchy. the lack of structure and control of both thought and action. True unconditional and uncontrolled freedom is thought to be a beautiful concept for everyone to reach for. In reality the truth probably couldn’t be further away as the thought of total freedom for human beings is truly anarchic. Total freedom seems like a dream to many but that comes with lack of understanding. The lack of restraint signals a lack of boundaries and stability. Wishing for total freedom is wishing for lawlessness and a Darwinism type of society. Although the society we currently reside is controlled by the powerful. In the case of complete freedom of choice it would become an even more ruthless playing field. The weak and timid would be most likely exterminated in quick fashion. All that would be left would be those strong enough or smart enough to survive hence the Darwinism comparison. Thoughts of total freedom maybe appealing on the surface, but in reality it would probably spell a mass extinction for humans. We can barely be trusted to care for ourselves and the planet in a safe matter now with some semblance of laws and structure. In removing these we would probably be thrust into an apocalyptic style world in a matter of a couple years, and that’s being generous. In conclusion freedom maybe a word that appeases the minds of many but few realize the responsibilities that come with having freedom. Structure is what has given humans a sense of stability and guidance throughout history and in our current society it’s obvious how removing to many of these checks and balances would rush us into a swift painful oblivion.
