What Hurts The Most

Having to leave was always a fear in the back of my mind. I never thought it would happen tho. I mean, who does?

Slowly I threw my legs to the side of the bed and sat upright. My shirtless back rubbed up on my partner’s sleeping body, making me want to stay even more.

“You can’t,” I whispered to myself in the darkness. “You can’t stay with her,”

As much as I was dreading it there was no other option. My heart felt heavy as I slid a shirt over my exposed torso along with a pair of sneakers on my beaten feet.

Suddenly the woman behind me let out a small sigh. I was half expecting to turn around and come face to face with her but to my relief, she was still fast asleep. Finally I stood to my feet and walked around the bedside to the doorway.

I knew I’d miss her. Her wonderful words. The softness of her warm body. But most of all I new id miss her smile. The smile that kept me going.

But that same smile was keeping another man going too. The thought of her cheating on me tore at my brain and heart. I never thought that reality would come true but here we are.

“Have fun with Lover Boy,” I sneered as I walked through the doorway and out of her life.
