Dream
I slip through the labyrinthine halls that make up my home, hearing them through a cracked open door. I catch bits and pieces, but hear enough. I see hands waving emphatically, hands grabbing, hands hurting. I would walk away again, but what's the point of hiding? What good does it do to steal away from the pain of heartbreak? Perhaps if I just-
But all too soon I am running away again, my head spinning. I am watching myself run away again, feet pounding as I steer through the labyrinthine halls that make up my home. I am suddenly lost. I cannot find my way out of the maze I have become trapped in. I cry out for help, but they do not hear me. I sit down and watch myself sob.
There are monsters in the darkness. I see them creep ever closer to me. I tell them to go away. One does not listen. I tell it to go away. It still does not listen. Adrenaline kicks in again and I am running, running, running.
They all used to go away when I told them to, but this one has grown stronger. Perhaps there is something it wants to show me. I do not want to know what that is. I run, run, run past half-empty bottles and boxes of bandaids.
I do not know how to end the dream, so I wake up.
