POEM STARTER
You are out walking when you see a person sitting alone on a bench under a Willow tree, crying. Write a poem about them.
This could be written as though you are observing the person but not interacting, or as though you have approached the person and offered to help.
The Beauty Of Sadness
The sun cascades through the leaves above
As tears dam in your eyes then burst down your reddened cheeks.
I have so many questions
And only you have the answers
But in my finite wisdom
I hesitate to speak
I hesitate to act
Instead watching like a fool
As your soul pours out from your eyes
And elegantly traces the soft curve of your jawline
Dripping down into your hands
And spilling through your fingers
To the earth below.
In a not-so-twisted sense
Your quiet sobs are beautiful.
Just raw emotion
So rarely shown
And I
And I alone
Get to witness such beauty
The beauty of sadness.
