Drain Away

I should have known that meeting them would lead to something like this.

It’s literally my job.

Look, I’m a seer, oracle, whatever you might call it. I see the future, I can read people’s fates and tell them their destinies.

I made a prophecy about your own.

To Asher and Emily, since I know that you’ll find us first, don’t worry. We aren’t dead.

My name is Eirlys, and the other one is Aerin. Once Lily and Zander get here, find this little house in the woods, we’ll be able to tell you who’s who more accurately.

Don’t expect us to be up-to-date on the world you’ve found yourselves in, we’ve been shut away here for the last fourteen years or so. Maybe fifteen.

Not ageing at all.

I can’t see, right now, exactly what will happen to you all to get here. I’m saving what little energy I have left to write you this letter.

Before you leave, write your own. Leave it where this one was. Address it to Chloe and Oliver. Tell them everything you think they need to know about this place.

Instruct them to write a similar letter to the quadruplets — they’ll be told the names.

I couldn’t write twelve letters.

I could get Aerin to fill in a list of names I dictated to them, starting with the quadruplets and ending with Lily and Zander. It’s in their pocket. Tell Chloe and Oliver this, please.

Good luck.
