The Mall
My 10 year old wants sneakers! Ok, I said. Lets go to the mall today.Nah, let’s do it online. Why ? Don’t you want to go to the mall?Well Mom, I don’t want to go with you! Please,Mom don’t get mad. My friends hang out at mall. Even girls hang out. I like this one blonde haired girl named Sarah. If she sees me with you, I will get embarrassed .After all Mom, I’m 14 years old!!. I think you’re pretty and everything Mom,but I don’t want my friend seeing me with my mom. To them your OLD! It’s Embarrassing.
I was once a teenager and I did understand. I was embarrassed to go to the movies at night with my parents. My friends would be in the back row, kissing. My parents warned me. That better not be you. But, I did go to movies ,sit in last row and smooched. I definitely understood what my son was saying. I understood where he was coming from.
OK, go shopping with your friends, I’ll be shopping by myself for myself. I will pick you up outside in the parking lot at 5 PM. My son was very happy. Oh Mom your so cool. I love you. You get it. Thanks!! See you in the parking lot. If im with my friends, don’t stop. Just drive by. I’ll catch you on the corner. Love u mom. See you later. Oh by the way, can I have some money? I’m giving you this money and $10 extra to buy your girlfriend a pretzel or whatever. But!!!! You better come home with those sneakers you want!
