High Above the City
She sat on the swing, pumping her legs back and forth. She was on the edge of the cavern, red rock creating the opening for her safe place.
The sky was full of swirling dust, the aftermath of the storm. Huge balloons drifted along in the wind, carrying the few lucky passengers who would see the city at this height.
The girl sat on her swing, imagining the lives of those in the balloons. What did it look like from that part of the city?
She could see the skyscrapers, gleaming silver in the sun. The wind swept through her hair, but the buildings stood strong and tall.
She could tell the sun was setting. Through the dust, she could see the skyline reddening.
The girl stopped pumping her legs, letting the swing choose its own path.
She took a deep breath, feeling the warm sun on her face, and she smiled. The sun set on a perfect day.
