1. Confident (for Layne this means that she likes the person she is and doesn’t care if she’s the kind of girl people like, she’s okay with being unpopular)

2. Adaptable (Layne has to quickly learn all the rules of vampire society when everyone else at school has known all that stuff their whole lives)

3. Nerdy (Intelligent and introverted. Layne is very smart but is shy and not great at talking to people or making friends)
