Giving up things

That we hold so dear

Is a nuisance to know it means

Facing our fear

Letting go of

All these worldly possessions

Leads to recognizing our own

Deep obsessions

Yet there is a Man

Who gave everything for me

He layed it all down

To wash my soul clean

God incarnate,

My Savior and King,

Gave up His life

So these lungs could sing

And if the King of all Kings

Chose to lay it all down,

How much more then should I

Give up my illusioned "crown"

So I'll lay it all down

At my dear Savior's feet

Because from the start,

It was all His to keep.

So let it all go,

Give it up and be free

Because you cannot hold on

To what was never yours to keep.
