POEM STARTER
Belonging
Write a poem about what 'Belonging' means to you.
Meat Head
The only place I belong is in my skin.
But it gets hard to find where my skin belongs
I know where it has before
And I can envision where it will be
But right now?
You can always tell when your skin doesn’t belong
You can feel it sucking in
Trying to trade places with you
Sometimes it’s easy to tell where it belongs
It doesn’t suck in
It expands out
And fills a room
And it’s hard to tell where yours ends
And theirs begins
Sometimes it’s harder
And you don’t know until you realize
How much space your taking up
You’ve filled the room
And when it laughs and breathes
You do the same
But now?
Maybe right now
In some clothes
And outside my bed
Is a good place to start
