Midnight Stroll

Jen had never had to rely on her senses more. Running through the dark, crowded woods without her sight had forced her to rely heavier on her sense of touch and sound more. The seemingly endless void of branches and fog seemed to go on forever. Suddenly, something caught her attention. In the distance to her side, she saw two glimmering dots of light, each of them a bright blood red with slits of silver in them that seemed to gaze thirstily into her soul. Before she could understand what she was looking at, her long dress caught a sharp chipped root and she was thrown to the ground. In that moment Jen had never felt more helpless, with mud splattered on her exhausted face.
