Write a poem that centres around one of the elements: fire, water, earth, or wind.
It could be descriptive or metaphorical.
Golden Sky
I once heard a story,
That’s been passed down for generations—
The tale of a boy who wanted to fly with the wind.
Born unable to walk,
He dreamed of soaring—
Spending years crafting a pair of wings,
That could carry him into the sky.
When the day came to test them,
He left without a word,
Rolled to the edge of a cliff,
And leapt.
But he did not fly…
He fell.
His parents mourned,
Their hearts heavy with grief,
Until a year later—
When he stood before them once more
He told them he was fine,
That he had made his wings at last,
Light surrounded him—
As he stretched them wide,
Creamy white feathers glowing softly in the sun.
His parents smiled,
As he pushed the wind towards the ground
Rising higher—
Disappearing into the golden sky.
