We’re Flying

Finn and I had been waiting all summer for this moment, mom and dad had brought us to the county fair at last, and bought us each 20 tickets. Now Finn, my little brother, is not as bold as me, but I didn’t want to ride alone either so we debated each ride in sight and found one that no screams were coming from. Standing in line felt like hours, watching all the people pass by, wondering where their food came from. Trying to remember which looked best. In no less that 5 minutes, Finn and I were sliding up the cold metal safety bar, and ploppiny into the hard plastic seat. I heard mechanical noises and up-up-up we went, the breeze picking up as we began to spin. Finn stretched his arms out wide and giggled with excitement. We could see the whole world from here. Through my grinning smile I spotted my parents, small as ants, “WE’RE FLYING!”
