My heart is slamming in my rib cage. You can’t leave! Stay! I think to myself. Lights flash in my eyes as I dash down the hall. School shooting. Of course. It never changes. It never really ends. I can here the gunshots. I close my eyes, trying to forget why I’m running for my life. I can’t find anywhere to hide. All the doors are shut. No one is speaking. The whole school is silent. I run faster as I hear the gunshots get closer. I’m finally in cover. Then, I wait.
