POEM STARTER
Write a descriptive poem which portrays a busy city.
You could use metaphors, imagery, and appeal to the senses, to really capture the feel of a city.
Tale As Old As town
The streets alike like New York City, buildings touching each other
Calling out for a taxi is a a little more harder to reach
Pathways and sidewalks the more you step on
People walking cruising the city
Running to work, running to school
It’s very energetic and people walk fast with adrenaline with each boost of coffee they drink
Restaurants, cafes and bakeries on every corner
High end places hidden and tucked away
So many stores to buy clothes and groceries
A busy city yet so quiet when we least expect
The night time peace the morning rush
The subways running all day long
On the weekends they change to buses
More people ride them and get lost with their directions
A pastime to walk along the bay
To visit neighbouring islands and to visit the tallest tower
A city known for being old and famous
A city I’ve known since I was 2
A city I was born in but don’t remember
But now I travel there more times than I can count
A city I call come because it was my first one
A city a town a street I know of
A city I was raised to learn to walk and talk in
A city I played and visited to grow my passion in
A city so busy with lots of people
A city that’s continuously growing and changing and moving
