The sun is starting to fall from view behind the tree line ahead, encasing the already much too difficult pursuit in which she’s found herself in darkness. Water rushes quickly on both sides, soaking her sleeves as she desperately tries to paddle her way through the current that threatens to take her under before the sun can set-

This, is Gabriela. And you may be wondering how she ended up in this mess. You will not be getting an answer. Suffer.

“-Fucking hell!” She curses as the rickety canoe is pushed mercilessly over rocks that would no doubtedly drag her to her death should she find herself off this boat. Part of her wonders why they’re even bothering to follow her at this point considering she’s half sure that the river will be her doom any minute now.

Speaking of, the boat catches on a fallen branch and Gabriela struggles to dislodge herself from it as the men behind her start to close the distance.

It takes far too long in her opinion to get herself freed from what’s practically a twig stuck between two rocks, but she manages and starts to put some distance between herself and her pursuers again.

If she’s being honest, she’s not even fully sure why they’re after her, but this is her life now. She’s been running for weeks and she will continue to until either she finds herself at the ends of the earth or they catch her.
