POEM STARTER
Swirling Smoke
Write a poem that starts with these words.
Vices.
Swirling smoke,
Losing hope,
I know I will never forget,
Every chortle,
Every tear,
every secret we’ve kept,
The suffering,
It weighs on me,
A burden on my spirits,
Your voice
Your name,
I can’t bring myself to hear it,
Your deception,
A lasting impression,
Forces me to rely on old vices,
Smoky head,
Relaxing muscles,
As temporary bliss arises,
Each puff,
Tries to calm me,
Yet it fails without exception,
The ache grows,
Mocking me,
Bleeding through my rejection.
But I can’t stop,
I won’t quit,
I need to find my peace,
The smoke will rise,
My brain will numb,
Until the reminders are finally appeased.
I hope you’re happy.
