Cold
A malevolent ice king glided over the land
Nature was frozen in place for only a time…..
What was once seen as bright as day
Stands still and cold, dark and grey.
The promise of hope can still be seen
Underneath the heartless icy gleen.
My breath joins the rest as it crystallizes in place
And disappears with a long moment’s grace.
I can stand sill here and be captured by the snow
Or understand that to another land I must go.
Do I the embrace that brings empty affection
And pursue places with brighter pictures that grab my attention?
I understand that now I must go.
To arrive in another land, and to forget what I know.
I simply can’t stay until I grow old.
Because nothing good ever came from the cold.
