WRITING OBSTACLE
In a country where it’s always daytime, a character travels in search of the anonymity that darkness offers.
Write a story about this traveler and their motivations.
Stars Strung From The Sky
There’s a song that replays in my head
One line circling my mind over and over
Like a carousel that never stops
_“How can you miss someone you’ve never met”_
I miss him
I don’t know him, but I miss him
I miss the boy who’ll hold me safe in his arms
The boy who will move the caterpillars from the blanket under the stars we lay on
Move them because he knows I hate them
And he never wants me to be in pain
To see the things I don’t want to
He shields me from the world, letting me sit in his warmth
God, I miss him so much
I wish he was here with me
Handing me the flowers he bought me,
Daffodils, my favorite
He knows it’s because of the bright yellow that reminds me of summer
He knows my small details like that,
He knows when I'm anxious, he sees my hand in my waves and he knows
He knows when I want to leave, want to just be with him in our own special world, he sees the restless bounce in my knee and he knows.
I want to meet this boy
I want to know this boy
Know his little details, his secrets
I want him to kiss me on our blanket, the one he made sure was empty of the furry critters, the one he laid out for us, cloaked under the stars.
Soon we’d be dancing, in and out of the dark
Through the years, through the lows and high,
I miss you so much
I’ll miss you until I find you
My love, I’m looking, and I know you are to
