Fledge and Buzzy flew through the night as far away from the strange scene in Toad Suck as they could go. They collapsed near a river once the sun peeked over the horizon. Buzzy said, “Where are we? The ground looks drier than before, and all of the buildings are more spaced out.“ Fledge agreed and said, “It’s colder and drier in the air, too. I’m scared, Buzzy!”

Buzzy, being older, felt like she should comfort Fledge, but she also blamed Fledge for getting them lost. She simply said, “We need to find something to eat. Let’s keep flying a little further.” They drank a little water and took flight.

After just a few minutes, Buzzy spotted a small town on the horizon. They flew with all their might and alighted in the center of a gathering crowd. The people seemed pleasant enough.
