Unsurefooted

I am the one with perfect posture

A ballerina in another life

Approached more than I care to count, embarrassed really,

About my interest in being a model

I am equally eloquent, what some might call silver-tongued

Always with the proper thing to say

Quick as a whip on my feet

Yet there I was, a walking disaster

From the moment I saw you

At the base of the staircase

My poise vanishing in the instant

Your eyes looked up and saw me

Your “hello” was my undoing

Tripping over my own blasted words

Then the steps to where you stood

Falling so very dizzyingly, undeniably

Headlong into love
