If I were to talk about something meaningful

Would I say: hearing the words “I love you,” or something similar?

Those words used to lift me up,

But now they only hurt me.

So what of the strange and miscellaneous information

Stored in my headspace shall I choose?

Because now that I need to pick from my thoughts,

The relevant ones flee, all but one.

“God, save me from your people.”

Is a quote I read many moons ago.

Where from, I cannot recall,

I have but a small suspicion why it stuck with me.

It was about people who had been hurt

By those who claimed to be the Lord’s servants.

So they turned their face from the Lord,

But that is not the God I know,

And those people are not Him.

He is good, and he sees you.

It is easy to turn your face away from the Lord

When one has been pained by others associating with him.

But when you return to him, with an open mind

You see the changes He makes in your life.

He is the only one who can say “I love you” to me

And fill my heart with the joy it lacked.
