When You Left
Your words wound me deeply,
Your silence hurts even more.
I realize now that I treated you cheaply,
And for you I was such a bore.
I know that I hurt you,
I know that I can’t fix us.
If you could just give me one
Of too many last chances.
When you said that you couldn’t do it,
I swear my heart hit the ground.
Your lips were moving quite a bit,
But I couldn’t hear the sound.
I know you heard my screams,
Of regret and of pain.
I was bursting at the seams,
Trying to get you back again.
You left with tears on your face,
But my eyes were dry.
You left me like it was a race,
And I couldn’t help but remember why.
If it could change anything,
I would have cried to have you back.
I wanted to scream when I saw you leaving,
Then came the silent sobs that i couldn’t hold back.
