A Letter To My Window

Dear window,

Oh my dearest window,

I have left you open for far too long

And now rust grows on your hinges.

You have weathered one too many storms,

One too many gusts of wind blew through your frame

I neglected your care,

Never shut you

Never oiled your silent hinges

But they are silent no more.

Rust grows along your once perfect frame

Hinges sneaking with every small movement

And now since I have neglected you

Forgotten you

Hated you

Threw anger to you

Never caring for you

You won’t shut for me.

I have tried to say sorry,

But band aids don’t fix bullet holes.

I fear some deeds can not be undone,

Now because of my ignorance

You remain open

Open evermore.
