I Will Find Him
At first, I excused his absence. He might be with his girlfriend or helping out Dad with work, yet, here they were. Sitting in the living room with me. Trying to brainstorm what in the world happened and where in the world is my brother.
I sat tightly close to Mom, she squeezed my hand and I turned to see tears streaming down her worried face.
Officer Lewis stood at the center of our grief.
“Do you remember what he was wearing?” He asked us.
“A green hoodie,” said my dad. Unlike the rest of us he shed his tears in private. All that remained was a ring of red around his eyes. “The color is a bit faded.”
“Great.” The officer said while scribbling a few notes down. “Did he give away any information as to where he might be? Or who he might be with?”
I held my breath, “He did.”
Everyone turned their gaze at me as I spoke, “For a while, he’s been saying that someone has been following him… I thought he was just acting paranoid… I didn’t believe him.” My voice broke and altogether I felt myself fall apart. My mother held me and I sobbed in her arms.
I should’ve listened to you.
I bring my head up, realizing I still had to speak if I ever wanted to see him again.
“I think I know who it might be.” I stated. Knowing very well that my time and efforts have now been handed in, into finding my brother.
