Aisle Of The Lost Toys

The little girl tugged at her mothers' jacket begging for her attention as tears streamed down her rosy cheeks. Swatting at her daughter's hand the woman continues talking to the neighbors about recent drama in the small community.

With a huff, the little girl tugged harder starting to let small sobs escape her lips. “Mama!” The little girl cries desperately wishing her mother would acknowledge her pleas for help. Once again the mother shoos away her child’s hand.

Giving up the little girl runs back inside the open screen door. Her tiny feet rush through the kitchen into her room where dozens of stuffed animals laid all over the floor. Crawling onto her bed the little girl wrapped her slim arms around her knees feeling the tears slid down her cheeks. The salty taste making the girl wipe them away.

A low hum surrounds the girl engulfing the room in a vibration. Fearfully the girl lifted her head getting ready to scream for her mother. Just as she opens her mouth she noticed a shimmer from the closet door.

Slipping her feet onto the cold wooden floor the little girl creeps over to the closet. Peering inside a small gasp escapes her lips. She was always afraid that inside her closet was the home to monsters, but what was there was surprising.

Shelves upon shelves filled an endless room with thousands of stuffed animals and toys with names attached to various parts. Walking down one of the aisles she reached out to touch a zebra with a torn ear. Just as she was about to touch it her hand hit what seemed like an invisible wall.

Shocked the little girl jumped but kept moving. Suddenly, a ruby line formed in front of her stretching across the endless room urging her to follow. Curious the little girl began to see where it led.

After following it for a few short minutes it stopped in front of a large shelf. A squeal of joy escaped her as she saw the purple and black tiger she thought she left at the park.

Hesitantly she reached remembering what happened with the zebra. As she got closer to the tiger it floated towards her. Grabbing onto the paw the little girl pulls it close hugging it tight to her chest.

A door suddenly appeared where the shelf was. Looking at it the little girl noticed it was her room. Walking through the doorway she was back inside her messy room. The door behind her shut. Turning quickly the little girl grips onto the doorknob flinging it open once again.

Expecting to see the toy-filled room again the little girl was disappointed when she was met with her old and boring closet. She stomped her foot and crossed her arms staring into the dark closet. Louder footsteps grew closer as her mother looked in her room. “What is this mess?” Her mother shook her head at her daughter. “Clean this up, please.”

Still, in awe, the little girl nods and starts picking up the stuffed animals and putting them back in her closet. After she cleaned her room she secretly hoped the magical room would one day return.
