That Night

In the hospital bed, confusion reigns,

A night so exciting, now a lingering memory of pain,

Memories of joy replaced by worry near,

With no whispered solace, no answers clear.

Beneath sterile sheets, he lies thinking of all he’s ever known,

A heart once vibrant, now slowly turning to stone.

The echo of laughter fades to a bitter silent tone,

Leaving only cold hospital ward, the boy so alone.

He ponders what happened that fateful night,

Why nurses turned away, avoiding his sight,

And friends, once so close, now vanished from sight,

Leaving him stranded in this bleak, silent plight.
