Trees Have a Lot to be Upset About
Some nights I lay silently on the grass and listen to the trees argue.
When you’ve lived for centuries I suppose you find a lot to argue about.
Imagine sitting in one place, unable to move, whilst creatures build homes on and inside of you.
Whilst teenagers carve scars into your flesh as declarations of their love which will only last a week or so more.
It must be tiring going through the yearly cycle, losing your leaves in the winter, cold to the core.
Children climbing your branches and stepping all over you.
Cats claw their way up your bark to retrieve a bird that’s settled on your body.
It’s amazing they even bother to give us oxygen the amount they have to go through.
We have a lot to thank trees for, they give us life everyday.
They’re starting to lose their patience with humanity. And I can’t blame them, imagine being alive for centuries only to be cut down to make loo roll?
Sometimes I lay on the grass and just listen to them vent because we all need to vent sometimes. Whether we’re human or trees.
