STORY STARTER
One wish. That’s all I had left with the genie.
I never thought I’d wish for this.
One more time
The genie seemed impatient, as if he had somewhere to be except inside that lamp of his. I had one wish left. I had already wished for unending riches, an unaging body, what else could I possibly want?
“You have one wish left, and remember you cannot wish for unlimited wishes.?”
What was one to do in this precarious situation? I could wish for powers beyond human comprehension. I could wish to become the most attractive man in the world. I could wish for nearly anything, yet only
one thought crossed my mind.
“Genie I wish for you to take me back to September 14th 2018.”
“What? Why? Are you sure there is no reversing this we shall go visit this timeline but you will not be able to remain for more than 15 minutes it could cause major damage to your reality now.”
“Without a doubt”
“Ok your wish is my command, we will transport shortly and your subconscious will be placed in that of yourself from then wherever you may be”
I really did it now. What could I possibly do to change the past then. What’s done is done.
All of a sudden my gaze shifted around the room. It was just as I had remembered, My science teacher ws there. Giving us the good old ‘Mitochondria being the powerhouse of the cell’ speach. Surrounded by my peers. The kids could not have been less interested, but I loved biology. The inner workings of the world of living things was always pure fascination for me.
My old science class. I prided myself on being the smartest one in the room. One could say it was basically my whole personality. Being the condescending lame kid who thought being smart made him better than everyone else. Until this fateful day. The teacher gave out the test results and as always I waited for her to call out my name. This time though she didn’t. She called out someone elses name claiming they got the highest grade on the Chapter 7 exam.
I was shocked, nobody else should have gotten the higher score. I was flawless in that exam. I looked around the room and there she was. Beautiful long black hair, her cute nose, and bright round brown-ish eyes. I had never noticed her before I was too self absorbed in myself anyways, but this day I truly saw her for the first time. She turned around looked me and smirked.
“Teacher you must have gotten it wrong right?”
“Nope, seems like you did not do as good as you thought you did.”
I was even having the same conversation from back then to the word. I was so caught up in the moment I forgot the genie was just watching from the corner. Laughing at me. He must have been thinking what a waste of a wish, but it meant everything to me. I did it just for this. To have that conversation one more time, and remember what it was like to see her again.
Time was nearing it’s end, and I could feel my consciousness drifting away. The genie looked me right in my eyes and nodded. All of a sudden we were back in the present and the genie looked at me bewildered.
“You wasted an omni-powerful wish on that?”
“Yes.”
“Why? You could have wished for her to fall madly in love with you or be with you forever. That is what about right the girl?”
“Yes”
“Then why?”
“I just wanted to see her one more time.”
“Well where is she now then?”
“Not here” Were the only words I could muster.
