POEM STARTER
Write a poem about a misunderstanding.
Whether funny or tense, see how you can incorporate both sides of the experience into your poem.
Thrives On Neglect
A river of sorrow in the palm of my hand
Flaccid and pale
You were supposed to be low maintenance
caveat emptor buttercup
Am I to blame for your gullibility
Now Quench my thirst
A Sun shrouded sill
Plump and pert lobes abound
While you shrivel gray, why
from Namibian sands my ancestors sprang ever reaching
Succulent vines entangled under an amorous canopy
All for me to sizzle in suburbia, wench
Fine, sit in this corner
With the baby snake plant and forgotten African violets
Strings of tears, string of lies
Finally you see me
Rescued from midday brutishness
Gentle handmaiden I baste in your love
What the hell you’re thriving
A Queen of chaos resplendent
Among the colander and cookbooks
Quit gawking pet
I’m a queen of chaos resplendent
Quench me, adore me, and be on your way
