A hole in the wall- to another place

“So how exactly did you get here?” I asked, sitting next to Anna on my front porch swing.

“I told you,” She started, turning her body to face me more. Her tone was everything I’d imagine it to be. Soft and sweet. She never had any attitude in her voice, or frustration in her eyes. “I went through the wall.”

I looked at her, more puzzled than before.

“But that just doesn’t make any sense. It’s made up. You were made up.”

I got up from the swing and started to pace back and forth.

“Trust me, I am just as confused as you are. But I don’t think we should be. I think we should just be happy that we get this chance.” She got up from the swing, coming over to me. “I mean, think about it, how many authors get to say that they met a character from their book?”

I looked over at her and stopped pacing.

“I guess you’re right.”

“Of course I am.” She smiled and ran down the pathway from my house. “Come on, I wanna explore, just like Hailey did.”

I went to walk towards her, but stopped in my tracks.

“Hailey. How is she?”

She continued to walk, but slowly, allowing me to keep hearing her.

“She’s great. Her and Jessie are doing good, too. And Lucilia- wait,”

She stopped walking and faced towards me, with a soft laugh.

“You already know all this. It’s your story.”

“Well, yeah but, I don’t know. It’s kinda cool to hear it from your point of view.”

“Well I can’t wait to tell you all about it. But, at a bookstore!”

Anna began to run down the sidewalk.

“Other way!” I called after her.

She began to run the other way.

“Come on!”

I ran after her, laughing.
