Awkward

"So... See any good movies lately?"

She looks at me with a raised eyebrow and an expression I can't read. Annoyance? Disgust?

I give her an awkward smile and just look forwards, leaning on my knees and giving a resigned sigh.

Waiting room. Waiting room. That's where I am. My fingers are fidgeting and my foot is rapidly tapping the ground. I've never liked these places. They're so cold and unfeeling. With their pale color schemes and their stupid secretarial desks with their stupid condescending desk ladies. Just staring at me and watching me and then looking away when I see her and pretending she's busy when she's really thinking 'What brought this poor sap here?' and pittying me and-

I hear a sigh come from the girl next to me. "Good Omens," she says.

I sit up, my interest peaked. "I'm sorry?"

"A show I've seen recently. Heard of it?"

"I- Yeah, actually."

Huh. She must have taken pity on my anxious state. Not a great reason, but at least I have something to distract me. And what are the odds she would have watched one of my favorite shows? "So, um, whose your favorite character?" I try, hoping to continue the conversation.

"Aziraphale, probably." She chuckles. "He's just so funny."

I grin. "Nice."

She catches herself laughing and stops, as if it was bad that she was enjoying herself. She clears her throat. "And, um, how about you?"

"Crowley. He's awesome."

She nods. "Right."

We sit in silence. "Did you hear about season two?" I asked.

"Yup," she says, popping the p and looking around, sorta avoiding my gaze.

I look at her a bit longer before sighing and looking away. I guess that's over then. "Amelia Cade?" The desk girl says.

The girl, Amelia, stands up in her fancy suit with her fancy purse and approaches. The desk lady, whose name tag reads 'Gladis' because of course it does, hands her a peice of paper and motions to a door to her right.

Well that was awkward.
