COMPETITION PROMPT
Water, fire, earth, and air. What would the four elements say if they could speak to each other?
Include as many or as few elements as you wish.
Elements, Golden of Every Kind
_Fire._
A blazen, valor-filled, yet powerful and brash entity that shook the ground wherever he went. He was well-known, but nor so in the way that everybody knew who he was. Fire preferred to stay in the background, and let others do the work. Fire was loud, filled with exaggerated movements and stifled laughter. He was an entity that would always be by your side, fiercely loyal to the end of your days. Fire was calming, yet none so at the same time, like a ripple of happiness that appeared throughout your mind at days. He would make days last forever, and Fire could make every little thing in the world shine as if they were stranded in a position brighter than diamonds. Fire was energetic, a world filled with starry-eyed gazes and wide open mouths that told the brightest stories and dreamt up the darknest lights. Fire was...well, Fire.
_Water._
A mysterious, veil-woven grace that elicited the smallest gasps of awe and peaceful laughter. She was kind, surely an angel among angels, a great figure that everyone respected, paid attention top. Water was soft, voice soft-spoken in contrast to Fire, who yelled and shouted until his voice ran hoarse. Water stood her ground, stubborn, refusing to back down even when the odds were in her favor. Water was brave, her presence calm and peaceful, lacking the energy that Fire had yet also making everything seem better, more lifelike. Water was and always will be one of the most important elements and entities of this well-spoken world.
_Earth._
A composed, intelligent bravery who was as ancient as the rocks, a man who seemed to know everything yet nothing at all. Earth was old, older than Earth itself, older than your memories, older than everything that existed on this planet. Earth was silent, spoke nothing more than a few words at once, but he seemed to say everything he could say in exactly small sentences. Earth managed to make even the most boring conversations interesting, and he could turn every small detail into a full-blown lecture. Earth was like an old friend, someone you could converse with and reminisce your life with, without ever needing anything in return. Earth was someone like that.
_Air. _
A quirky, energetic young force who was as carefree and strung like her name suggests. Air was everywhere. She could be blowing past your house, dancing near the lake, running near the park, or simply resting on a bench. Air loved to go on adventures. She was always ready to drag someone into an quest with her, whether a full-blown workout near the track or just a simple leisure at the beach. Air made sure you weren't alone, made sure that everything was how it ought to be. Air lived inside everything, bubbles of laughter ringing out from her trail. Air was amazing, someone who could never get tired. Air was gentle, and did her duty with her full attention.
Now, these four entities have strived to keep the Earth a peaceful one, with each of their own abilities. They made sure that everything functioned properly, and that humans could live comfortably inside of their world. They made sure to do things well, without praise or anything in return. More or so often, these four entities came together to plan out their own actions and decisions in making their dear Earth a better place.
"Fire, you're late. By ten minutes." Air shot Fire a frustrated look, yet one could see the thinly-veiled affection and fondness masked by her expression. Fire could only shrug and grin, unashamed, as he went to his assigned seat at their meeting place - a hidden temple on top of an abandoned mountain. Earth adjusted his glasses as Fire sat down, staring wistfully at the sky, a worn expression etched onto his face.
"Now that we're all here, how should this meeting be planned?" Water spoke up, her voice soft, as usual. Fire leaned back in his seat, curious eyes turned towards the three in front of him. He nodded, agreeing. Earth slowly blew on his piping hot tea, an headache already forming at the other Element's shenanigans. Air let out a laugh, her own tea already cold from her constant cold form. Water sighed, as did Earth.
"We should be doing our jobs thoroughly, right?" Earth set down his teacup, gaze moving from one entity to the other. Air stared straight back at him, nodding her head in post-excitement, and Water looked the same as ever, calm and calculating. Earth felt his brows furrowing at Fire's avoided gaze, knowing it was purposeful and guilty. Earth stared a hole in Fire's head, glare only intensifying when Fire let out a small cough, eyes blinking rapidly at the 'interrogation'.
"Right, Fire?" Earth said with a deadpane tone, the other two entities also turning to Fire with gazes of their own. Fire let out a sheepish laugh, still avoiding the three entity's gazes, and instead moved his sight to the mountains nestled snugly behind them.
"Yeah, I-I did. I mean, I did! But...I did." Fire rambled, sweat trailing off one side of his cheek. The other three sighed, knowing full well that Fire had just neglected his duty once again. Fire spluttered at their tired gazes, looking at them with an indecorous expression of his own. This event had gone on for a few million years already, and Earth was already used to it. It still made his head throb every time Fire disregreded his duties, though.
"We should still do our best." Water spoke up softly, her teacup clanging against her spoon. Air nodded at her words enthusiastically, and Earth found himself agreeing. While Fire didn't exactly have a job, he still had duties of making sure the humans got their heat to use for necessities and food. If Fire didn't do his job well, he would get punished. Earth would rather he didn't see his old friend punished so severely for a job that was as easy as walking in the park.
"Aw man...it's finally a rest day for me, and you want me to work?! How heartless are ya..." Fire complained, dragging his hands down his face with exaggeration. Air giggled, like she always did when Fire did something that annoyed both Water and Earth. Earth frowned, but he felt grateful for the fact that Fire still kept his childish personality and did not end up as someone closed off. Sure, they had grown apart during their years of duties, but Earth still loved Fire and the others like how he used to many centuries ago.
"Refrain from saying that. I am merely concerned about your work ethnic." Earth grimaced at the sour gaze Fire threw his way. He knew that Fire hated working, of course, but it was also his duty, and the Elements had to do their duty to the best of their ability. Fire let out a loud yawn, leaning back and resting his hand on Water's shoulder to balance himself. Water didn't seem to mind, humming when the air grew quiet and restless. Earth felt something in his heart swell when he looked at them, looked at his oldest friends who walked the Earth with him when they had first been made. He would be forever grateful for them, and wouln't trade them for anything in the world.
They may be entities, yes, but at the end of the day, they would always be the same Elements who looked out and cared for one another.
