Giving Up This Weight I’ve Carried

I’m giving up this weight I’ve carried-

Further than it should have gone.

It’s followed me while growing heavy-

Down this path that I now mourn.

All of the things that happened to me-

None have claimed my soul thus far.

Now all that I once let consume me-

Like dust settles on the floor.

Healing the wrongs that never were mine-

found quiet peace deep within.

All of the things that used to haunt me-

My gentle wrath has left singed.

It did not leave scorched earth behind it-

When I let the horrors go.

Fertile ground that is rich for planting-

Perfect place for future growth.
