Times Up

he looks down one last time.

beginning at the midnight of her face.

where he laid forehead kisses, wedding cake.

his chin met her perfectly there.

he says goodbye to the eye of her soul.

he looks to her three o’clock.

where aches he soothed away lived.

his thumb would rest there when holding her.

he says goodbye to her mind.

he looks to her six o’clock.

where his love first met hers.

his happiness lay in her smile.

he says goodbye to her voice.

he looks to her nine o’clock.

where he witnessed emotion in colors.

his shoulders supported her burdens.

he said goodbye to her feelings.

he looks to her midday.

where he saw the world, in eyes of green.

his own vision worshipped her body.

he said goodbye to her colors.

he looks to her face.

her time of life in its entirety.

he had touched and seen every inch.

given his every second and minute to her.

now she sits in pause, her hands stopped.

there is no more ticking,

she smiled with the last tock.

he was there set her inside the box.

she was always set with a timer.

and now the bells ring out.

her coffin closes shut.

as he sounds the time of death.
