Concrete Hearts

Sunny days, gloomy afternoons, lively nights & hollow moods.

A crowded city, & little smiles.

A busy street & lit up tiles.

Busy ears & wide playlists.

Leaves a busy city & distant relationships.

In the city that never sleeps, we walk around all day long daydreaming.

Of a different time, a different life, keeps the bad habits creeping.

We’re all so close, yet actually so far.

Packed on top of one another, in a little subway car.

The screeching rails, steaming cloud from below, doesn’t always depict Marilyn Monroe.

We all stay strong, and hope our loved ones do too.

But we’re all so caught up, in our shiny phones and what’s playing through the Bluetooth.

Eyes on phones, all day long.

No wonder good habits, are tough to stay strong.

Our concrete hearts, let us feel so little.

Until it’s too late, and we feel all so brittle.

Chisel away at your concrete heart,

Allow your heart to feel what we should’ve from the start.

Love, as they say, always prevails.

Ultimately, love also, very much so, fails.
