Destination Nowhere Part 4

DIARY ENTRY #4

Date: October 19

Days gone: 1

I woke up where I fell asleep so that’s a good sign. Day one done and I haven’t been mauled or kidnapped. Looking good from here on out.

Today I’m gonna do something fun and spontaneous. The GPS I looked at when I briefly turned my phone on showed me that these woods end soon if I walk south and open

into mountains and fields and a big river. Sounds like just what I need to do something fun today. So I’m currently trekking through the woods. Also, no, no one has called or texted yet. Still going unnoticed.

As I write this, I’m perched up in a tree that I climbed to take a break for a bit. My Fitbit says it’s about 11:00 AM and I’ve been walking since 8. It’s actually comfy, laying in the branches of this huge, thick tree. I even saw a squirrel today and he stared at me for a minute. I named him Jim. He’s still here, in the tree next to me, eating a nut. I decide to get involved in his snack time and I pull out a granola bar and munch on it.

Alright, I’m thinking. Time to get going. If I’m gonna reach the river and mountains by tonight, I gotta go so I can swim and climb tomorrow. Can’t wait! I left my suitcase at the base of the tree as a step to help me get down, but I toss my backpack down first. I slide out of the tree and land squarely on the ground. Snatching my suitcase handle and slinging my backpack on, I start off again, double checking my Fitbit to make sure I’m going south.

Bye Jim!

Peace and love,

Nala
