When He’s Gone
“Ain’t no sunshine” he says
It’s the truth, it’s overbearingly dark
The emptiness is stark in my heart
But I continue.
The “How are you’s “ and “What you up to’s”
Replied
Again and again with sigh and sometimes lies
You’re missing from me.
Like the opposite of a plant that never moves but is breathing
I run on autopilot, I’m running on E.
I dare not say you complete me
For fear of words overdone and outdated
And I was never a fraction to be completed
And YET you still competed with my self love.
No.
I take that back;
My love for you never took away from the total love I had,
Your love made it
Blaze.
It’s not warm when you’re away.
