“So..Maurice… can you do it!? I want to see!!!”

I shake my head “Charles..Charles.. no, I can’t”

Charles frowned “I don’t believe you”

Charles opened up his painstakingly bright blue Nike bag and pulled out 3 balls, one red, one pink, and one yellow

Then he pulled out a set of bananas

He smiled and looked at me “come on Maurice you’re just lying! I know you can do it”

I shake my head and sigh “Charles . I can’t.”

the waiter walks up to our table and pulls out a paper

“Are you the guy who can juggle with balls while eating bananas upside down?”

I shake my head “no you have the wrong person”

The waiters expression falls flat. He points at the set of items Charles has pulled out of his bag “but..look! You have everything! You must be him!! Can I get your autograph?”

a persons head pops out of the corner of a booth “autograph? Is this guy famous?” Charles nods “he can hang upside down while juggling and eating bananas”

Bewilderment isn’t enough to describe this persons expression, they looked like they just got offered to stay at a 5 star hotel at the moon

I quickly exclaim “no! I can’t do it !! It’s just a silly rumo-“ before I could continue the person skipped on over to our table and pulled me shoulder to shoulder and took a selfie.

their fingers moved like lighting, because before I could protest they quickly wrote “this guy can juggle while eating bananas and hanging upside down!”

and suddenly everything slowed down, their finger was hovering over the post button , about to tell one million people that I could do something impossible

“NOOOOOOOHHHHH” I jump reaching out my hand trying to knock the phone away, but alas, I was too slow… the deed was done. It was posted. And quickly after I heard the ding ding ding of responses trailing after each other.

Charles beamed “Maurice! You’re going to be famous!”

I shook my head frantically “No! Charles!!! I can’t do this!!!”

The waiter stood there looking confused “so… can I have your autograph or..?”

I put my hand on his shoulder. Make eye contact. And flatly say “Charles. I literally can’t do it. Kingsley lied.”

Charles eyes tear up “w-what do you mean…??? Why would he ..lie?”

Charles expressions drops “so.. now 1 million people think you can do something you can’t…. If they found out you lied.. y-you’re going to get cancelled!!!”

I nod and facepalm “oh my god what am I going to do”

Charles was fuming “I’m going to get back Kingsley for this !! It was all his fault”

He quickly takes out his phone to send Kingsley a text message when he gets a notification

his eyes widen… “Maurice….”

I start to get worried. “What.. what is it!?”

He slowly turns his phone to show me the notification. It was Apple News. talking about my “ability” to juggle while upside down while eating bananas.

“Oh. My. God.”

Charles shrugged “oh well, I guess there’s nothing left except to learn how to juggle upside down while eating bananas”

I feel vibrations coming from my pocket. Non stop.

I put my hands into my pocket and feel my phone buzzing like a bee

I take it out and see so. Many . Notifications I didn’t even know it was possible to get so many notifications

I feel a tap on my shoulder. I look around and I see the waiters face inches away from mine. I yelp and Jump backwards. He stares at me with a blank face and says nothing. He just points to the back

??? What could possibly be there.. I’m scared…

I walk to the back , to the entrance door. And what I saw. Was. Terrifying

People. So. Many. People.

I scream and run and lock myself in the bathroom shaking and hugging myself “what am I going to do!?”

I hear the voices of people droning outside in the restaurant, I can hear the echoes

and I hear the bathroom door open and slam shut. I close my eyes tightly afraid of what might be there

“Mauriicceeeee come out come out wherever you are”

I feel relief wash over me , it was Charles voice, acting as normal as ever, I quickly unlock the bathroom stall and pull him in with me and lock it once more.

he looks at me “dude. There’s so many people outside. Asking to see you preform your trick”

and he exclaims “oh! And Kingsley told me that he didn’t say that you could juggle while hanging upside down while eating bananas”

I look confused, “then… what did he say?”

He said Maurice is “hanging in town feeling down, mugging people, and hates bananas”

And well what he said was true ?? So how’d it come to this??

Charles explained further “Ben thought Melissa said hanging upside down while juggling and eating bananas, and Melissa thought that Kingsley said hanging town feeling upside down and eating bananas.”

I sigh, it’s too late, I have to do this.

I exit the stall, push people away from the crowd. Take the blue bag, and go outside . I ignore charles’ shouts of concern

then I juggle while upside down and eat bananas.
